Which form of magnesium is this?
Magnesium bis-glycinate — the form bound to the amino acid glycine. It's one of the best-absorbed forms of magnesium and is gentle on digestion, which is why we chose it instead of cheaper forms like oxide or citrate.
Why glycinate and not citrate, oxide, or threonate?
Each form has trade-offs. Oxide is cheap but poorly absorbed and often laxative at meaningful doses. Citrate absorbs reasonably well but is also osmotic — it can loosen stools, which is why it's used clinically for constipation. Threonate is studied primarily for cognitive endpoints and delivers a small elemental dose. Bis-glycinate is well-absorbed, gentle on digestion, and pairs magnesium with glycine — an amino acid with its own calming profile. For nightly use around sleep, it's the form we'd take ourselves.
How much do I take, and when?
Three capsules with water, 30 to 60 minutes before bed. Consistency matters more than timing — most people notice a difference within 5 to 10 nights.
Why 275 mg elemental and not 400 mg?
275 mg is what the label delivers in glycinate form without pushing the capsule count past a comfortable nightly dose. The US RDA for adults is roughly 310–420 mg from all sources, so a 275 mg supplemental serving complements a normal diet rather than replacing it. If your doctor has advised a higher dose for a specific reason, follow their guidance.
Why three capsules instead of one?
Magnesium is heavy — a clinical dose of any well-absorbed form simply won't fit in a single swallowable capsule. Products that claim a full dose in one pill are usually using oxide (much lighter, poorly absorbed) or hiding the elemental yield in a proprietary blend. We chose three smaller, easy-to-swallow capsules over one large capsule of a cheaper form.
Can I take it with food?
Yes. Magnesium glycinate is well-tolerated with or without food. Some people prefer taking it with a small snack; others take it on an empty stomach before bed. Either works.
What's in each serving?
275 mg of elemental magnesium, from 2,500 mg of magnesium glycinate. No proprietary blends. The full label is on every bottle and on the product page.
How is it tested?
Every batch is third-party tested for identity, potency, and contaminants (heavy metals, microbes). A Certificate of Analysis is available on request — email hello@stilla.co.
Is it safe with my medication or condition?
Magnesium can interact with certain prescriptions (some antibiotics, blood pressure meds, diuretics). If you're pregnant, nursing, under 18, or managing a medical condition, talk to your healthcare professional before starting.
Is it vegan? Gluten-free?
Yes to both. The capsule is a plant-based hypromellose shell. No dairy, no soy, no gluten, no artificial colors.
Where is it made?
Manufactured in the United States in an FDA-registered, GMP-certified facility.
